The wine road

of Križevačko Prigorje
The Križevci-Kalnik-Orehovec wine road was established in September 2013 and, as part of the wine-growing region of Western Continental Croatia, the sub-region of Prigorje-Bilogora, the Kalnik vineyard, passes through the area of the town of Križevci and the municipalities of Kalnik and Sveti Petar Orehovec. In November 2022, the Wine Road was extended to the territory of the municipality of Gornja Rijeka and renamed the Wine Road of Križevačko Prigorje.

Of the white wines, Graševina, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc, Rhine Riesling and Kraljeva are predominant, and there are also Sylvan, Sauvignon, Muscat yellow and Traminac. Among the black varieties, the most common are Frankovka, Pinot Noir and Portuguese, while the autochthonous variety of this area is Kleščec. In addition to excellent wines and a rich gastronomic offer, the wine road offers a large number of natural, cultural and entertainment facilities.

STATUTES OF KRIŽEVCI

Long known has been the great hospitality of local people towards all guests who come with honest intentions. Križevci is one of the oldest towns in the northern part of Croatia and its citizens are always in the forefront with their hospitality which is always gladly talked about. Our people are easily finding reasons for having fun, breaking the monotony of everyday life, and are always in the company of happy friends and in a way that will remain in everyone’s memory.

Bilikum

The name bilikum comes from the German word willkommen. Bilikum was any vessel from which a toast was drunk in honor of coming to someone’s house. The most famous are bilikums in three parts (the word trilikum, which people associate with a three-part vessel, is an incorrect name and means nothing), but bilikum could have been the most common purchase.
